Are you tired of living in an outdated home? Do you want to make your home look newer and more modern but you're working with a limited budget? Although living in a colonial or other older style home can be nice, it's less nice if the interior feels like it wouldn't be completely out of place if it were featured in a 70s sitcom. Fortunately, you don't have to live with this look forever. Even if you are being held back by a tiny budget, there are still ways for you to get a better-looking home. A few things that you might want to consider include:
Start with the bathroom: Your bathroom is probably the smallest room in your home. It likely also gets the most use. As such, bathroom remodeling can be a great place to start your renovation project. Although a full bathroom remodeling job will consist of tearing everything out and installing new stuff in its place, you don't have to be quite that drastic. If your toilet and tub look relatively modern, for example, simply tearing out the sink, redoing the tile, and then painting the walls can have a drastic effect on the look and feel of your bathroom.
Concentrate on the walls, not the floor: Aside from bathroom remodeling, there are ways to keep costs down when dealing with the rest of the house. One of those ways is to ignore the floor as much as is possible. Unless your floor covering is completely filthy or consists of shag carpeting, you can probably leave it alone for now. Instead, concentrate on repainting and redoing the walls. A few coats of paint in modern colors and a new set of drapes can do wonders to freshen up the look of almost any room. If you still feel like the floor is a problem, a large area rug that matches the new paint job can help conceal a multitude of problems.
Midrange products offer the best value: While you don't want to have a bathroom remodeling project that falls apart in just a couple years, neither do you still want to be paying for it the next time styles change drastically. Instead of choosing the cheapest shower installation, consider the second or third cheapest options. These will often give you the best value for your money, offering durability while still being priced low enough that you'll be able to set aside money for future projects.
